If you're planning a wedding at Rockbeare Manor, you're in for something truly magical. As a wedding photographer based in Devon, I was thrilled to capture Emily & Jacques unforgettable day at this elegant manor just outside Exeter. Rockbeare Manor offers timeless beauty, sweeping views, and the perfect backdrop for romantic, storytelling photography.

About Rockbeare Manor – A Dream Devon Wedding Venue

In the heart of the Devon countryside, just outside Exeter, lies the breathtaking Rockbeare Manor—a historic, exclusive-use wedding venue that combines classic elegance with contemporary style. It was the perfect setting for Emily and Jacques’ June wedding, which was filled with sunshine, romance, and unforgettable moments.

Rockbeare Manor is one of my favourite places to photograph weddings. From the moment you drive up the sweeping tree-lined driveway, you feel like you’re entering somewhere truly special. The manor itself is a stunning Grade I-listed building, with light-filled rooms, high ceilings, and views that stretch out across rolling fields and beautifully kept gardens.

For Emily and Jacques, Rockbeare offered the best of both worlds—elegant interiors for getting ready and dining, and gorgeous outdoor spaces for their ceremony and golden hour portraits. June is such a perfect month to get married here—the grounds were in full bloom, and the long summer evening gave us plenty of time to capture soft, golden-light portraits in the gardens.

As a wedding photographer, I always love returning to Rockbeare Manor. It has so many natural backdrops that are perfect for romantic, storytelling photography—from the soft greenery of the gardens to the grandeur of the ballroom. Every wedding here feels unique, and Emily and Jacques’ day was no exception.

Bridal Prep at Rockbeare Manor

Emily began her day in one of Rockbeare Manor’s stunning bridal preparation rooms—a space that perfectly balances luxury with calm, natural light. The soft tones, ornate wall details, and grand chandelier created an effortlessly elegant setting for those quiet, emotional moments before the ceremony. As a Devon wedding photographer, I absolutely love using this room to capture detail shots of the dress and those intimate, getting-ready moments. Whether it’s a full-length gown hanging from the grand wooden door or a second bridal outfit displayed on a vintage mirror, every corner of this room provides a timeless backdrop that enhances the storytelling of the day.

Indoor Ceremony at Rockbeare Manor

Emily and Jacques exchanged vows in one of Rockbeare Manor’s breathtaking ceremony rooms—a light-filled space framed by grand sash windows, ornate ceilings, and a spectacular chandelier. The couple chose an indoor wedding ceremony setup that allowed the stunning architecture and golden detailing to shine, while soft summer light poured through the windows behind them.

The backdrop was made even more romantic with lush floral arrangements by Simon Nickell Designs, framing the windows in soft whites and greenery that complemented the classic elegance of the room. Emily wore a gorgeous lace gown from Brides at Waterfields, with flowing sleeves and intricate detailing that looked absolutely incredible as she walked down the aisle. Jacques looked equally sharp in his tailored grey-blue suit from Always and Forever Wedding Sanctuary—a perfect match for the light, airy palette of the day.

One of my favourite moments to capture as a Rockbeare Manor wedding photographer is that post-ceremony walk down the aisle—newly married, surrounded by loved ones, and beaming with joy. Emily and Jacques’ celebration was no exception.

Garden Games, Guest Laughter & Group Portraits

After the ceremony, guests made their way into the beautiful gardens at Rockbeare Manor, where lawn games, fizz, and sunshine set the tone for a relaxed and joyful afternoon. The grounds at Rockbeare are perfect for mingling, and Emily and Jacques added a brilliant personal touch by hiring a caricaturist sensible pencil who sketched hilarious portraits of their guests. It created so much laughter—and gave everyone a fun keepsake to take home!

Romantic Couple Portraits Around Rockbeare Manor

Throughout the day, I stole quiet moments with Emily and Jacques for couple portraits in different parts of the Rockbeare Manor grounds. One of the things I love most about photographing weddings here is the variety of stunning backdrops—each one offering its own unique mood and tone.

We captured soft, romantic shots in the shaded garden walkways, editorial-style portraits in front of the manor’s impressive façade, and dreamy golden-hour frames on the open lawn as the light faded. By spacing out these mini portrait sessions, Emily and Jacques were able to stay present with their guests while still getting a full, storytelling gallery that reflects every part of their day.

Whether it’s the sweeping driveway, elegant interiors, sunlit gardens or Georgian architecture, Rockbeare Manor offers endless opportunities for creative and emotive wedding photography. It’s a true dream location for any couple—and a joy to shoot at every time I return.
