FAQ

When is the best time to book a wedding photographer?

It’s best to book your wedding photographer as soon as your venue and date are secured—typically 12–18 months before your wedding. Early booking ensures your preferred photographer is available and allows time for engagement photos, planning, and custom requests. If you have set a date and love my work, I'd suggest getting in touch sooner rather than later. That said, I sometimes have last-minute availability, so it's always worth asking.

What Are the Different Styles of Wedding Photography?

Photojournalistic / Documentary: Natural, candid moments that tell the story of your wedding day.
Traditional / Classic: Timeless posed portraits and family photos.
Fine Art / Editorial: Creative, styled images with a magazine-quality feel.
Candid / Lifestyle: Relaxed, authentic moments that highlight real emotions.
Hybrid: A mix of styles tailored to your personality and wedding day vibe. I like to have a mixture of styles depending on what best suits your day so we can discuss this in more detail if you decide to book!

How Do We Know Which Photographer is Right For Us?

As a wedding photographer I am with you for the entire day, from the quiet, intimate moments to the excitement of the last dance. More than any other supplier, I see every emotion, every detail, and every fleeting moment that makes your day unique. It is vital that you feel comfortable with the person capturing these memories and I pride myself on creating an experience where my couples feel both excited and calm, so they can enjoy the day fully while I document it through my eyes. Meeting beforehand and ensuring my style, approach and personality are the perfect fit for your wedding is a must so please feel free to contact me. I understand that this decision is huge as your images are an heirloom to your love story and they need to be perfect.

Do you travel outside of Devon/Cornwall (or your local area)?

Yes, absolutely. Although most of my weddings are across Devon and Cornwall, I often travel further afield. Travel within the South West is included, and for weddings outside the region I simply add reasonable travel and accommodation costs. If your venue is more than two hours away, I do kindly ask for overnight accommodation the night before —this ensures I’m nearby, well-rested, and fully prepared to capture your day without the worry of delays or travel disruptions.

Will you be the one photographing our wedding?

Yes. When you book me, you get me. I’ll personally photograph your day, and I sometimes bring a trusted second shooter if you’d like extra coverage—particularly useful for large weddings or when you want both morning preparations photographed.

What happens if our photographer is ill on our wedding day?

In over 17 years, I’ve never missed a wedding. But for peace of mind, I have a trusted network of professional photographers I can call on if the unexpected happens. You’ll always be in safe hands. I will make sure someone I trust is there to capture your day.

How many wedding photos will we receive, and how long does it take?

For a full-day wedding, couples usually receive 700-1000+ carefully edited images. I aim to deliver your full online gallery within 4–6 weeks, though I always share a handful of preview images within a few days so you have something special to enjoy straight away.

Do you offer wedding albums and prints?

Your wedding collection includes a gorgeous wooden box or cork/suede envelope with some of your favourite images printed on fine art paper. Or, you can have a beautifully bespoke designed album to tell the story of your day. Both products ensure you have a gorgeous tangible keepsake to cherish and remember your day for years to come.

What will our wedding photographs look like if it rains on our wedding day?

We live in the UK, so rain is always a possibility! Rain doesn’t have to spoil your day—it can actually create some of the most magical and memorable images! Soft light, reflections, and umbrellas add a romantic, cinematic touch. I always have a plan A and a plan B so although it can feel disappointing to have rain on your day it doesn't have to spoil the fun and love. Fortunately, it rarely rains all day, so we can take advantage of the dry moments to capture beautiful shots. And if you’re up for a little adventure, we can go as far as we like with getting wet—it can lead to some truly fun and unique photographs!

Do you offer engagement/pre-wedding shoots?

YES!!! Engagement sessions are a wonderful way to get comfortable in front of the camera and for us to get to know each other before your wedding day. Whether we’re at home, taking a walk, visiting a favorite location, enjoying a picnic, or even a sea swim, these sessions are all about capturing your personalities and connection. Kids, pets, and fun props are welcome too—whatever makes the session uniquely yours.

Can we give you a wedding shot list?

I welcome you input into the running of the day and I will guide you with the knowledge and experience I have to ensure we get the most from your day. I try to ensure you have time for candid shots with your guests as well as some structured time to get more formal group shots. With a good mix of both we can get a fab record of your day. Your wedding day is an event, not a photoshoot so my job is to tell the story of your day as it unfolds, capturing magical, chaotic moments as they happen.

Do you require a wedding photography deposit and contract?

I ask for a £250 deposit to secure your date and a signed agreement. The balance is due around one month before your date at which point we arrange a zoom chat to go over timings etc in more detail.

Do you work with wedding videographers?

Yes, I regularly collaborate with videographers. I know how to work alongside them so we’re not in each other’s way, ensuring you get the best possible coverage without disruption. Our job together is to capture your day and make it amazing! If you are looking for a videographer I can recommend some for you to check out.

Do you offer shorter packages or micro-wedding coverage?

Yes. While most couples book a full day, I also offer flexible packages for smaller celebrations and elopements. I can tailor coverage to suit your plans.
So if you have something in mind I'm more than happy to work around your ideas for your unique day.

What makes you different from other wedding photographers?

I aim to bring warmth, calmness, kindness and a wealth of knowledge. With 17 years of experience, I’ve seen a lot of wedding days unfold, big, small, traditional, alternative and I know how to handle the unexpected. My couples often tell me I felt like a friend with a camera, helping them and their guests feel at ease and genuinely enjoy the day.
